Jake
Ripple will be starting his first year as the head coach at Garden
City Community College. This will be Coach Ripple's first
stint as a head coach after serving the past 11 years as an assistant
coach at four different schools. He will be coming to Garden
City after spending the past four years at Southeastern Oklahoma
State University .
During
his four years at Southeastern, Coach Ripple was in charge of recruiting
as well as on-court instruction of the post players. He had
the opportunity to help develop an NCAA Division II All-American
post player during his stint at Southeastern.
Prior
to coaching at Southeastern Oklahoma, Ripple was an assistant at
Barton County Community College . During his time at Barton,
he helped guide the Lady Cougars to three regional tournament berths
including a Region VI Championship in 2000. That Barton team
finished with a record of 34-4 and a fifth place finish in the NJCAA
National Tournament. Before Barton County , he also coached
one year at fellow Jayhawk Conference school Neosho County Community
College during the 1998-1999 season.
While
a student assistant coach at Sterling College, Ripple helped the
Lady Warriors claim three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference
Championships and make appearances in the NAIA Division II National
Tournament. In his final two seasons at Sterling , the Lady
Warriors advanced to the "Sweet Sixteen."
A
native of Dodge City , KS , Ripple earned his bachelors' degree
in biology from Sterling College in 1998. He went on to receive
his master's degree in health, physical education, and recreation
from Fort Hays State University in 2002.
