Dodge City shuts out Lady Busters

By MIKE KESSINGER

The Garden City Lady Broncbuster soccer team gave up the opportunities the Dodge City Conquistadors needed to pull away Wednesday, as the Conqs claimed a 7-0 victory in Dodge City.

A strong Broncbuster effort in the first half was enough to keep the game close, as GCCC trailed 2-0. But like what Dodge City do in the first half of the first meeting between the teams, the Conquistadors poured it on in the second half Wednesday.

"It was just a tale of two halves," Busters coach Jeff Huffman said. "(Dodge City) just had better quality opportunities to score in the second half."

Dodge City wore down the thin Buster lineup in the second half, scoring five goals to take the victory.

Wednesday's loss counts on GCCC's Jayhawk Conference record. When the two faced off in the season opener, the game was a non-conference match.

The Busters (2-5) will play 2 p.m. Friday at Johnson County.
