Head
Coach Phil Terpstra is entering his 13th season leading the Lady
Broncbuster softball program, and his eleventh overall. The program has continually improved with Coach Terpstra at the
helm.
Before
coming to Garden City, Terpstra was head basketball and golf coach
at Stanton County High School in Johnson , Kans.
Terpstra's
coaching career began in 1990 at Northwest College in Powell , Wyo.
He served as assistant men and women's basketball coach during
his two-year internship there.
Terpstra
graduated from Chadron State College in 1990, with a degree in business
and math education. He also earned a master's degree in education,
with an emphasis in sports administration, from Fort Hays State
University in 1996.
He
was a two-year basketball letterman and Academic All-American at
CSC. He also played two years at Northwest College in Powell
, Wyo.
A
1984 graduate of Highland High School , the three-year letter winner
played basketball for Frank Kollintzas. The Indiana native
also played fast pitch softball for 13 years and pitched competitively
at state, regional and national levels.
Born
January 26, 1966 in Harvey , Ill , Terpstra has been married for
16 years. His wife, Wendi, is a language arts teacher at
Garden City high school. They have a eleven-year-old son,
Austin; a eight-year-old son, Braden; and a four-year-old daughter,
Taylor.
