GCCC softball reaches Region 6 semifinals
The Garden City Community College softball team was hoping to take the field at Two Rivers Sports in Wichita on Sunday with a chance of advancing to the Region 6 championship game. The only problem was the field was simply too wet.

By the end of the third inning in the second game there wasn't much more that could have gone worse for the Garden City Community College softball team.

The Lady Broncbusters trailed by five runs and Colby was simply having its way. There wasn't much to keep Garden City from packing it up right then as the team's seed in this weekend's Region 6 tournament was already determined, so positioning themselves any better could not have been an issue.

Kayla Jeanjaquet was thinking the best she would get was a triple when she rounded first base, but as she approached third Garden City Community College coach Phil Terpstra waved her home. As she crossed home plate safe, her inside-the-park home run had put the final touch to the Lady Broncbusters' score in the first game with two runs scored. Lady Broncbuster Softball picks up sweep of Colby on the road
The Garden City Community College softball team picked up a sweep on the road Tuesday at Colby.
The Lady Broncbusters cruised to a 6-0 win in the first game, then stopped a Colby rally in the nightcap to win 8-5.

Lady Busters drop two at Butler
The Garden City Community College softball team was unable to follow its success of a doubleheader sweep against Butler on Friday with another Saturday.
With a change of venue, from Garden City to El Dorado, the Laqdy Broncbusters were swept by Butler 7-5 and 5-2.
In the opener, the Grizzlies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third. Garden City (20-10, 6-4) responded with two runs in the top of the fourth, but Butler tacked on two more in its half of the fourth.

After pitching the Garden City Lady Broncbusters to a 12-5 opening game victory over Jayhawk Conference Western Division-leading Butler County on Friday afternoon at Tangeman Sports Complex, the last thing on Taylor Cange's mind was coming back to pitch again in the second game.

But that's exactly what coach Phil Terpstra called on the Sunnyvale, Texas sophomore right-hander to do and she responded with 2 1/3 innings of one-run, two-hit relief and helped the Lady Busters take Game 2, 8-7, and complete a rare sweep of Butler.

Lady Busters split twinball at Barton
The Garden City Community College softball team had one streak stopped and another one started against Barton County in Great Bend on Wednesday. The Lady Broncbusters dropped the opening game of the doubleheader 3-0, then bounced to take Game 2, 8-2.

The wind blew. And then it continued to blow even harder.
But no matter how much it did the Garden City Community College softball team took it in stride, dropping Frank Phillips College twice on Saturday, 9-1 and 12-2. Both games ended in the middle of the fifth inning because of the run-rule.

GCCC Softball splits home opener
After taking their show on the road to start the season, the Lady Broncbusters were 4-2. They were curious to see how the show would play at home on Sunday when they took the stage against Western Nebraska.

The Garden City Community College softball team swept through Borger, Texas, on Saturday and beat Frank Phillips 20-4 and 5-1. It gives the Lady Broncbusters four straight wins to open the season after sweeping Lamar (Colo.) on Feb. 7.
