Baumann was announced as Garden City Community College's 20th
men's head basketball coach on May 24, 2006 . He takes
over after serving one season as assistant coach for the Broncbusters.
Prior
to joining the Broncbusters, Baumann spent one season as the assistant
coach at Tallahassee Community College

also spent three years as head coach at Lamar Community College,
Lamar, Colorado, where he led the Runnin' Lopes to a 50-45 record,
including a school-third best 25-8 mark in his final season.
Baumann, a native of New Plymouth, Idaho, played basketball at
New Plymouth High School and became the 1994 Idaho Gatorade Player
of the Year. He was also selected for the prestigious Nike All-American
Basketball Camp prior to his senior year.
He attended the University of Idaho-Moscow, and became one of
the school's top three-point shooters, a fact that is obvious
from a glance at the Vandal record book. He ranks third in all-time
career three-pointers, with 150; and attempted, 440; and also
hold the fifth highest single-season total for three-pointers
attempted, at 184.
Baumann was the Vandals team captain in both his junior and senior
seasons.
Though he concluded his playing career with the 1998 season, Baumann
stayed in Moscow to serve as a student assistant on the Vandal
staff for 1998-99.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Idaho in 2000.
