Jerre
Cole enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Broncbuster
men's basketball team. Cole brings a wealth of coaching experience
to the Broncbusters, spending the past 13 years in the college ranks.
Cole
served as an assistant coach at Arizona Western College during the
2005-06 campaign. The Matadors posted a 28-7 overall record and
advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament after winning the Region
I crown. At Hutchinson, Arizona Western defeated Coffeyville C.C.
in the first round before being eliminated in the winner's bracket.
The
previous four years, Cole served as the head men's basketball coach
at Peru State College in Peru , Neb. He led the Bobcats to their
first-ever Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament berth
and only the eleventh 20+ win season in school history. During that
time, Cole recruited four NAIA All-American nominees, doubling the
total number in Bobcat history.
From
1996-2001, Cole served as the lead assistant coach at Porterville
College (Calif.) under the direction of George Nessman (Head Men's
Basketball Coach, San Jose State University). The Pirates posted
an overall record of 147-22 overall record, the best record for
all California Junior College 's over the five years. They won the
2000 California Junior College State Championship and four straight
Central Valley Conference Championships. PC produced six All-California
selections and sent 18 players on to NCAA Division I programs.
Cole
started coaching at Missouri Valley College under Tom Fifer for
two years as a varsity assistant coach and head freshman coach.
In 1995, Cole moved on to Emporia State University where he served
the Hornets as a graduate assistant for one season.
A
native of Washington, Kan., Cole was a KBCA First-Team selection
in high school, leading the Tigers to a third place finish in the
1988 2A State Championships. He began his college career at Highland
Community College where, as a freshman, the Scotties earned a berth
in the Region VI championships. Cole led HCC in scoring as a sophomore.
Upon completion of his Associate of Arts degree, Cole transferred
to Missouri Valley College where he was named an All-Heart of America
Conference and All-District selection. In 1992, the Vikings advanced
to the NAIA National Tournament in only the second time in school
history.
Cole
earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from
Missouri Valley College in 1995. He completed his Master of Science
degree from Emporia State University in 1999.
Cole
is married to the former Kimberly Strangmeier of Park Hills, Mo.
They have one daughter, Claire, who is two years old.
