The Garden City Men's Basketball team will open up their home schedule with a three game home stand, starting Thursday November 9th with Labette in the annual Pepsi  Classic.  Labette opened their season last week with a 71-59 win over Arkansas Tech JV. The Friday night match-up puts GCCC against Mid-Plains, and then GCCC will face Frank Phillips on Saturday night. All games will start at 7:30. The Busters look to improve on their 2 and 0 start and look forward to the opportunity to play three home games in three days.

     The Garden City Men's' Basketball team opened their season November 3rd at Northeastern Junior College, in Sterling Colorado with a 113-93 win over Buckley Air Force Base. GCCC was led in the high scoring affair by sophomore Yima Chia-Kur, who paced the Busters with 28 points and 11 rebounds. The Busters started fast, scoring 72 points in the 1st half. Sophomore Sammie Fisher came off the bench to spark the Busters with 5 first half three pointers. Fisher ended with 24 points. The Busters also received solid contributions from sophomore Julian Allen, 18 points and 8 rebounds, and sophomore point guard Jeremy Baker, who finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Sophomore Dale Saunders also was in double figures with 12 points.

     In game two GCCC once again eclipsed the century mark defeating Ft. Carson 100-77. Once again the Busters received a solid performance from Chia-Kur, who led the way with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Allen (21 points, 5 rebounds), Fisher (18 points, 4 assists), and Saunders (18 points and 11 rebounds) were also productive in the win providing offensive fire power. Freshman Julio Flemming came off the bench to record his 1st double– double, going for 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Next up Garden City will host the annual Pepsi Classic, November 9th-11th.
