Dear Prospective Cheerleader:
We are glad that you’re interested in GCCC Cheerleading! We are always looking for talented men and women who are dedicated to the sport of cheerleading to join our team! We hope that after you read this letter you will want to join us in making a difference at our college and in our community! Our Purpose:The role of a GCCC Broncbuster Cheerleader is to positively represent the college, support the athletic teams and generate crowd participation. GCCC cheerleaders should encourage good sportsmanship and should lead by example at all times. The team goal is to work in harmony with the GCCC administration, campus life, coaches, athletic department and athletic boosters. Our Program:Our cheer squad is under the new direction of Coach Dusty Burrow. Coach Dusty has 5 years of experience coaching co-ed teams at the junior college level (levels 4 & 6) and 2 years of coaching experience at the all-star level (levels 1-3). Her college teams have won Nationals at Cheersport and CTC’s American Open against competitive cheerleading squads from the University of Florida and NC State just to mention a few. Coach Dusty’s goals for the squad are to emphasize the importance of academics, to encourage exemplary behavior in the classroom, to improve the overall skill level of every team member, to improve team morale and to improve the overall team reputation. Practices consist of drills, stunting, cheering, tumbling, and heavy conditioning and are held 3 days a week. What’s Expected of you! A commitment to cheer for at least a year and to dedicate yourself to the betterment of this team! Team members are expected to give 100% participation at all times. The entire team will cheer at all home football and both the men and women’s basketball games. A travel team will be selected to cheer at designated away football games and men and women’s basketball games. Team members are expected to attend requested community events, fundraisers, and to volunteer on campus and in our community. Scholarships for books and tuition are awarded to every team member who meets the following criteria: Must be enrolled in at least 16 hours and Must maintain a 2.0 GPA each semester These requirements must be met and maintained throughout the year in order to continue cheering and to keep your scholarship!
