John
Keller, known as “Long John” Keller, was an outstanding
playmaker, co-captain, and NJCAA All Tournament Selection for
Coach Ed Hall in 1950. He led GCCC to its first Regional Basketball
Championship. The Broncbusters qualified for the NJCAA National
Basketball Tournament where they finished 3rd in the Nation. “Long
John” transferred to the University of Kansas where he played
for the legendary “Phog” Allen. In 1952, while at
KU, John was a member of the Big 7 Conference and the NCAA Championship
teams. He was also selected to play for the United States Olympic
Basketball Team at the Helsinki Olympic Games where the basketball
team won the old medal.

Steven Wright

Steven Wright was a three time National Champion in track. He
won the indoor 440 yd., indoor 400 meters, and the outdoor 400
meters. He was selected as a two time All-American in both indoor
and outdoor track, while also setting school record in the 400
meter and was a member of the school record sprint medley team.
Steve qualified and ran in the Olympic trials in 1980. While finishing
his education at Kansas State University, he was a member of the
KSU school record 4x400 meter relay team.
